Today we looked at using verbal techniques to make speeches more interesting.
Compare the two videos below.
In the first video he has the following physical traits:
- rubs his head
- puts his hands in his pockets
- touches the table
- looks at the paper
- doesn't make eye contact
In the second video, as well as correcting the physical traits, he also:
- uses rhetorical questions to open and end the speech
- uses an anecdote to support his opinion
Anecdotes are really useful to support your opinion when it isn't based on fact. They show why you think that way.
